Looking into other cultures and customs the designer observed a Japanese rule regarding good manners which says it is impolite to pour one’s own drink – instead one should pour the drink of their companion, and vice versa. This beautiful gestureis captured here, where the carafe shape allows for a double directional pouring action – for serving and being served. The glasses, following the same formal language as the carafe, are asymmetric and always look different from each other based on their perspective, but the top is round for a convenient drinking experience.
