The wood, which was initially imported from Central America, has some darker burl elements that make a fascinating veneer. Brown inlays of widely spaced and alternating rosettes and stars, set within a bordering ring, give the rim subtle embellishments. A much larger rosette, encircled by two more rings, graces the center of the circular top.The top is mounted atop a thick baluster-form pedestal above a hexagonal knop with a cavetto cornice between two quarter-round moldings. A tripartite base with sinuous legs rests on small caster wheels, giving the versatile table high portability. Our beautiful Louis Philippe tilt-top table can be used as a center table in a foyer, or as an occasional table in a living room. When not in use, the top can be lifted to the upright position and stored where space is at a premium. less
